Michael is one of the founding partners of Stempel, Catterson, LoFrumento, Carlson, Biondo, LLP. Michael has forged a legal career dedicated to successfully navigating his matrimonial clients through the difficult, and, often traumatic waters of divorce. He has an impeccable reputation among the bar and jurists as a tireless advocate and tenacious litigator. Michael has represented numerous high net worth clients in divorce litigation ranging from complex business valuations to custody and support. His passion for business valuations and income stream analysis has separated him from others in his field.
Michael is an avid writer on matrimonial law and his articles have been published in the New York Law Journal, The Suffolk Lawyer and the New York State Bar’s Family Law Review.
Based upon Michael’s writing skills, he also dedicates his practice to appellate work. Michael has successfully argued at the Appellate Division and has had decisions on his appeals published in the New York Law Journal.
Michael’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed by his peers. Since 2014, Michael has been named a Super Lawyer (as published in the New York Times), which is an honor received by less than 2.5% of all lawyers. He has also been named as a top lawyer in New York by the Ten Leaders Cooperative and as one of the nation’s top attorneys by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.
In addition, Michael has assisted Professor Andrew Schepard at The Maurice A. Dean Law School at Hofstra University in a practical skills course entitled “Family Law Skills”. He is also a member of the Nassau County Matrimonial Law Committee and the New York State Bar Association (Family Law Section).
Aside from his passion for the law, Michael is involved in many charitable and community endeavors. He is on the Board of Directors for the EAC Network, a diverse social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for people in need across Long Island and New York City. His work with the EAC Network compelled the organization to honor him as their 2019 Honoree at EAC’s annual golf outing. He is also on the Board of Directors for Help America Hear whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for men, women and children who suffer from significant hearing loss. His firm is actively involved with the We Care Fund, which is the charitable arm of the Nassau County Bar Association and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Personally, Michael is married with two children. He volunteers as manager for both children in basketball and baseball. When he is not at the office, a courtroom or on a ball field, you can find Michael on the golf course, or at the beach.
